Command Master Chief (SW) Jack D. Garza

Master Chief Jack D. Garza is currently assigned as Command Master Chief 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.  He is a native of Texas and enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1997.  He attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., and began his naval career as a Mineman.

Sea duty assignments include: USS Blackhawk (MHC 58); two tours MCM Crew Fearless embarked USS Champion (MCM 4); USS Pioneer (MCM 9); USS Chief (MCM 14); USS Ardent (MCM 12); USS Dextrous (MCM 13) forward deployed Manama, Bahrain; MCM Crew Leader embarked USS Champion (MCM 4); and USS Gladiator (MCM 11) forward deployed Manama, Bahrain.

Shore duty assignments include: Navy Recruiting District San Antonio, Texas; Mine Warfare Training Center Point Loma, Cal.; 147th HR Company in Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan; and Navy Munitions Command East Asia Division Misawa, Japan.

Command Master Chief tours include: Naval Support Activity Annapolis, Md.; Commander Naval Surface Squadron Five (CNSS 5) Manama, Bahrain, USS San Antonio (LPD 17) Norfolk, Va.

Presently, he serves as the Command Master Chief of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.

Command Master Chief Garza is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 196 / Green Group) and CMC / COB Course (Class 160) in Newport, R.I. and Executive Leadership Symposium Norfolk, Va.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
