Sergeant Major Emanuel A. Hudson

Sergeant Major Hudson enlisted in the Marine Corps in The Bronx, NY on August 20, 2001. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC, and graduated boot camp in November 2001. Private Hudson attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) in Jacksonville, NC, in December 2001. Upon completion of MCT, he went on to attend MOS school at Naval Justice School Newport Rhode Island becoming a Legal Service Specialist and where he obtained the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

In April 2002, PFC Hudson was assigned to 3D Field Service Support Group, Legal Services Support Section in Okinawa, Japan serving as an Administrative Clerk. During this tour, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl). In 2003, LCpl Hudson transitioned to MATSG-21 Pensacola, FL, Legal Section. He served in the billets of legal advisor for AMS-2 and assistant legal chief for MATSG-21. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt). In 2005, Sgt Hudson conducted a lateral move within the legal community to become a court reporter PCS'g to Marine Forces Command, Norfolk, VA, to attend court reporting school at the Virginia School of Technology in Virginia Beach, VA.

Upon completion of court-reporting school in October 2007, Sgt Hudson received orders to the Legal Services Support Center Parris Island, SC, serving as a court reporter. After two years, Sgt Hudson received orders for Drill Instructor School and graduated in October 2009. He was assigned to First Recruit Training Battalion, Bravo Company and served in the billets of Drill Instructor, Experience Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Company Operations Chief. During this tour he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt).

In 2012, SSgt Hudson completed drill instructor duty and received orders to H&S Bn, Legal Services Support Team, Kaneohe Bay, HI. He served in multiple billets that included Administrative Law/Support SNCOIC, Trial Services Office SNCOIC, and the MARFORPAC SJA Legal Chief. During this period, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt). In August of 2015 he received orders to attend school for the Marine Security Guard Program (MSG) to become a Detachment Commander.

In September 2015, GySgt Hudson completed MSG school and was selected to serve as the Detachment Commander for Detachment Frankfurt at U.S Consulate Frankfurt, Germany. In 2017, GySgt Hudson transitioned to his second duty assignment serving as Detachment Commander to Detachment Dar Es Salaam at U.S. Embassy Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. In 2018, he was selected to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to 3D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as the Company First Sergeant for A Co and H Co. In April 2021, First Sergeant Hudson received orders to Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico (MCAF) and in November 2021 was frocked to his current rank of Sergeant Major (SgtMaj). In July 2022, SgtMaj Hudson received orders to 1st MAW, MASS-2 where he currently serves as the Sergeant Major for the squadron.

Sergeant Major Hudson's personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ 4 gold stars) and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ 3 gold stars).

Sergeant Major Hudson has two college degrees from Excelsior College, a Bachelor of Science in Military Studies and an Associate in Science.

He is married to Lashawn and together they have three children: Lillian, Selina, and Emanuel Jr.
