Lieutenant Colonel Scott A. Martin

Lieutenant Colonel Scott A. Martin grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2003 after graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts. In January 2004, he completed The Basic School and was assigned to Naval Support Activity Athens, Georgia for Aviation Supply Officer School training. Upon completion of formal training, he was designated as an Aviation Supply Officer (MOS 6602).

 

In May 2004, Second Lieutenant Martin was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 14 at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina. He served in a variety of billets within the MALS Supply Department, including the Accounting, Repairable Management, Consumables Management, and Continuous Process Improvement divisions. In February 2006, First Lieutenant Martin deployed to Camp Lemonier, Djibouti on an Individual Augmentee (IA) billet as the Camp's Assistant Operations Officer.

 

In June 2007, First Lieutenant Martin departed MALS-14 and reported to Commander, Fleet Air Western Pacific (CFWP) at Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan and was subsequently frocked to Captain. At CFWP, Captain Martin served as the Atsugi Aviation Supply Department Officer and as the Aviation Readiness Officer for naval aviation in the Fifth and Seventh Fleet areas of responsibility. In October 2009, Captain Martin deployed as an IA to Kabul, Afghanistan to serve as the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command CJ4 Class III (Fuels) Operations Officer. Upon successful completion of the deployment, Captain Martin left active duty in June 2010 to pursue a civilian career.

 

Captain Martin began service in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve in December 2012 while working at International Flavors and Fragrances in Hazlet, New Jersey and Tilburg, Netherlands. He served as the Marine Aircraft Group 49 Fiscal Officer and Supply Officer at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey until his selection and accession to the Active Reserve in May of 2014.

 

Captain Martin reported to Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Aviation Logistics Branch to serve as an Aviation Logistics Action Officer for the KC-130, Operational Support Aircraft, and F-35 platforms. In December 2014, he was promoted to Major and, in October 2015, he was selected to return to active duty. In June 2016, Major Martin departed HQMC and attended the U.S. Army's Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

 

After graduating from CGSC, Major Martin reported to MALS-12 at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in July 2017. At MALS-12, he served as the Aviation Supply Officer and Executive Officer until his departure in May 2020. In June 2020, Major Martin was frocked to his current rank of Lieutenant Colonel and reported to Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island for duties as the Marine Corps Detachment Commanding Officer.

 

In June 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Martin relinquished command at Marine Corps Detachment Newport and reported to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific (MARFORPAC), Camp Smith, Hawaii in July 2022. While at MARFORPAC, Lieutenant Colonel Martin served in several billets within the Current Operations Directorate. In May 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Martin reported to MALS-24 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii for duties as the Commanding Officer.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Martin is married to the former Lindsey Corcoran and they have three daughters. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star. Lieutenant Colonel Martin has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering from WPI and a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University.
