Major Tyler B. Robinson

 

Major Robinson was accepted into the Platoon Leaders Class Program in October, 2003 and attended Officer Candidates School the following summer.  Following graduation from Officer Candidates School and the University of Kansas he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2006.

Second Lieutenant Robinson reported to Quantico, Virginia to attend The Basic School with Alpha Company in 2006.  Upon completion, he completed training as a Naval Aviator aboard NAS Whiting Field, FL and MCAS New River, NC where he was designated a CH-53E Pilot.

In July 2010, First Lieutenant Robinson reported to Marine Aircraft Group 16 and was directed to Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron 465 (HMH-465) where he served as a schedule writer, ready room officer, Ordnance Officer in Charge (OIC), Airframes Officer, and Quality Assurance OIC.  During his time with the “Warhorse” he completed Enhanced Mojave Viper 2010 and Iron Fist 2012.

Twice, Captain Robinson detached from HMH-465 in order to deploy.  He reported to HMH-461 in January 2011.  As a member of the “Ironhorse” he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom serving as a schedule writer and M-Sharp officer.  In 2013, he detached and reported to Medium Marine Tiltrotor Squadron 166 (VMM-166) and served as the Flightline Officer in support of the 13th MEU.  While with the 13th MEU, Captain Robinson served as a Detachment OIC for the CH-53E detachment aboard Camp Lemonnier.

In July 2014, Captain Robinson was assigned as a flight instructor for Helicopter Training Squadron 28 at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, FL.  He served as the Assistant Admin OIC, Flight Leader, Assistant Operations Officer, and instructed Student Naval Aviators from their first flight to their solo flight in a TH-57B.

Major Robinson checked in to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 (MWSS-171) in August 2017 and assumed command of the Airfield Operations Company.  He relinquished command in June 2018 in order to serve as the Squadron Executive Officer.  In June 2019, Major Robinson was hand-selected to serve as the Marine Aircraft Group 12 Executive Officer.

Major Robinson’s personal awards include three Air Medals and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
