LtCol Andrew J. Pushart

LtCol Pushart graduated from MCRD Parris Island in April of 1992.  After boot camp and Marine Combat Training, then Pvt. Pushart reported to the Field Artillery Cannoneer course at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.  As an honor graduate, PFC Pushart was meritoriously promoted to LCpl in of July 1992.  After Artillery School, LCpl Pushart reported to India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines, in Reading PA.  While at India Battery, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and held the billets of Gun Section Chief, Local Security Chief, and Platoon Sergeant.  During his time at India Battery, Sgt. Pushart attended Kutztown State University, was the President of the KU Rugby Football Club, and graduated with a B.A. in History.

In January of 1998, Sgt Pushart reported to Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA.  Sgt Pushart was an honor graduate ranked 12th of 117 Marines.   Sgt Pushart was commissioned a 2ndLt in April of 1998, and attended The Basic School. 

In October of 1998 2ndLt Pushart reported to MATSG, Pensacola, FL, and attended API at Sherman Field.  He then attended primary and intermediate flight training at NAS Whiting Field.  As a result of being the top Marine in his selection class, he selected KC-130s.  2ndLt Pushart transferred to NAS Corpus Christi in December of 1999 for advanced prop training and was winged on June 9th 1999.  1stLt Pushart then transferred to VMGRT-253 in Cherry Point, NC.

While at VMGRT-253, 1stLt Pushart attended the Co-pilot initial qualification course at Little Rock, Arkansas and was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate.  Afterward, 1stLt Pushart completed his KC-130 training back at MCAS Cherry Point.  While at VMGRT-253 1stLt Pushart held the billet of Flight Duty Officer.  Lt Pushart transferred to VMGR-152 in Okinawa, Japan in September of 2001.

1stLt Pushart reported to VMGR-152 and worked as a Logistics Officer and a Flight Duty Officer.  During this period, he was promoted to Captain and was designated an Aircraft Commander in the KC-130.  Captain Pushart participated in numerous exercises throughout the region including Noble Eagle, OEF-Philippines, Cobra Gold, Balikatan and others.  Captain Pushart transferred from the “Sumos” in September 2004.

Capt Pushart reported to the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit in September 2004.  While there, he held the billet of Assistant Air Officer.  Capt Pushart also attended TACP School and was designated a Forward Air Controller.  Prior to deployment, Capt Pushart attended numerous formal schools including; Jump School, Air Officer Course, HRP shooting course, Dragon Eye Operator course, and many others.  During his time at the MEU, Capt Pushart deployed to Iraq from December 2005 though March 2006.  While in Iraq, Capt Pushart served as the FAC for the Maritime Special Purpose Force, and participated in numerous raids and operations.

After the MEU, Capt Pushart reported to VMGR-452 in Newburgh, NY in July of 2006.  While there, Capt Pushart filled the billets of Aviation Safety Officer and Active Duty Operations Officer and was promoted to Major.  He participated in flights throughout Asia, Europe, and South America in support of Marine units, U.S. Embassies, and JIATF-South.  He departed for Okinawa, Japan in August of 2009.

Following VMGR-452, Major Pushart reported to the III MEF G-5 and worked as the Fixed Wing planner and DPRI representative.  Major Pushart departed for KC-130J conversion training in August of 2010 and reported back to VMGR-152 in December of that year.  While at VMGR-152, Maj Pushart participated in several operations and exercise in the AOR, including Operation Tomodachi in response to the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.  Major Pushart served as the OIC for the last real VMGR-152 Afghanistan Detachment from December 2011 to June 2012. 

After VMGR-152, Major Pushart served as the Assistant Program Manager (Systems Engineering)/Class Desk at PMA-207 in Patuxent River Maryland from July 2012 through August 2015.  While there, Major Pushart assisted in many key support programs including Harvest Hawk, JMPS transition, and the Weight and Balance Airframe Change. 

LtCol Pushart returned to Japan in August 2015 and served as the MAG-12 Executive Officer and Special projects officer prior to assuming command.

LtCol Pushart assumed command of VMGR-152 on 27 May 2016.
