Biography

Sergeant Major
SgtMaj Perez

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Sergeant Major Perez enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 1993.  Upon completing Aviation Supply and Aviation Computer Operator’s Course in Meridian, Mississippi, he reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31, MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina.

In June 1996, Sergeant Major Perez reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36, MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan.

In June 1997, Sergeant Major Perez lateral moved into Maintenance Administration and reported for duty with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 49, I&I Newburgh, New York.

In October 2000, Sergeant Major Perez reported to Drill Instructor School, Parris Island, SC.  Sergeant Major Perez served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Weapons Field Training Battalion Rappel Master, and Battalion Operations Chief.

In March 2004, Sergeant Major Sergeant Perez reported to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115, MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina. On October 2004, Sergeant Major Perez deployed aboard USS Harry S. Truman in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In April 2006, Sergeant Major Perez reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29, MCAS New River, Jacksonville, NC.  In September 2006, Sergeant Major Perez was selected to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and transferred to Marine Tilt-Rotor Squadron 263.  In September 2007, Sergeant Major Perez deployed to Al Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In May 2008, Sergeant Major Perez graduated from Park University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

In June 2008, Sergeant Major Perez reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Guard School and assigned as the Detachment Commander at American Embassy Belgrade, Serbia.

In April 2010, Sergeant Major Perez was selected to the rank of First Sergeant and assigned as Company B, Company D, and Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant for 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2D Marine Division.  On April 2011, Sergeant Major Perez deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In Aug 2012, Sergeant Major Perez reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 6, 2D Marine Logistics Group.  On July 2013, Sergeant Major Perez deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan with Combat Logistics Regiment 2 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In Jan 2014, Sergeant Major Perez reported to Marine Corps Engineer School, as Company First Sergeant until getting selected to his current rank.

In April 2015, Sergeant Major Perez reported to his current assignment as Squadron Sergeant Major, Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152, Marine Air Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Iwakuni, Japan.

Sergeant Major Perez’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/2 gold stars, Good Conduct Medal w/7 bronze stars, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
