SgtMaj Timothy C. Tackett
SgtMaj Tackett enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on January 16, 1987 where he attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
Upon completion of recruit training, he received orders to Infantry Training School, Camp Pendleton, California and was subsequently assigned to Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion, Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia for duty as a Marine Security Guard. In 1989 Tackett received orders to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While there he served as a Fire Team Leader and Squad Leader and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In 1993, Tackett was ordered to report to Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, California where he served as a Mountaineering Instructor and Team One Team Leader where he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1997, then Staff Sergeant Tackett was once again ordered to report to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division, where he served as Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant. Upon completion of his tour with 2nd Marine Division, he reported to II Marine Expeditionary Force, Special Operations Training Group, Stone Bay, North Carolina, where he served as Chief Instructor for the Mountain Operations Section.
In 2001, Tackett received orders to report to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division where he was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company, as the Company Gunnery Sergeant. After completing his tour with 2nd Marine Division, he was then assigned to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina in 2002, where he served as a Company Gunnery Sergeant at Marine Combat Training Battalion.
In 2005, then First Sergeant Tackett received orders to report to 2nd Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During this tour he was the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant, following deployment was reassigned to 2nd Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Food Service Company to serve as Company First Sergeant. In 2007, he again received orders and was ordered to report to Aurora, Colorado to serve as the Inspector & Instructor First Sergeant of Quebec Battery, 5th Battalion, 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division. In May of 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major, and ordered to report to HMH-362, Marine Corps Base Hawaii to serve as the Squadron Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Tackett’s personal awards include: the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 1 gold star, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 3 gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star.
