Biography

Command Master Chief
Curtis D. Blunt 

Command Master Chief Blunt is a 1985 graduate of Chickasha High School, Chickasha, OK.  He entered the Navy in August of 1987 and attended Recruit Training Command in San Diego, CA followed by Religious Program Specialist Apprentice Training in San Francisco, California.  After serving nine years as a Religious Program Specialist, he converted to Navy Counselor in 1996.

 

His sea duty assignments include 3rd FSSG (Okinawa, Japan), 13th MEU (embarked onboard USS DURHAM (LKA 114)), 1st FSSG (Camp Pendleton, CA), USS SHILOH (CG 67) (San Diego, CA), VFA-41 “Black Aces” (embarked onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68)), HM-15 “Black Hawks” (Corpus Christi, TX), USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) (Bremerton, WA).

 

Shore duty assignments were NAS Moffett Field, CA and Naval Absentee Collection Unit, Great Lakes, CA.

 

Master Chief Blunt’s Command Master Chief tours include USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) (Yokosuka, Japan), VFA-195 “Dambusters”, (embarked on USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and Commander, Task Force SEVEN TWO/Fleet Air Forces Forward (Atsugi, Japan).

 

Command Master Chief Blunt was selected as a Chief Petty Officer in 1998, Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2006, Master Chief Petty Officer in 2009 and Command Master Chief in 2010.  He is a graduate of the Command Master Chief Course, Newport, RI, the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, RI, and the Marine Corps Non Commissioned Officer’s Academy in Okinawa, Japan.  Master Chief Blunt holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Psychology and Applied Science from Coastline Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Waldorf College.

 

His decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five), Combat Action Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the 2009 Commander, Naval Air Forces Navy and Marine Corps Association Leadership Award and various other unit, campaign and personal awards including.
