Biography

Command Master Chief
Daniel K. Field 

Born in San Jose, CA, HMCM Field enlisted in the Navy on March 3, 1992. After graduating boot camp, he attended HM “A” School in San Diego, Ca. In August, 1992, he reported to his first duty station, Naval Hospital San Diego, CA and transferred in February 1994 to Field Medical Service School, Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon graduation from FMSS, he reported to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division where he was a line corpsman with Bravo Company. In March of 1996, HM3 Field transferred to 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion. In September, 1998, he transferred to Branch Medical Clinic, Naval Station San Diego where he worked at SIMA Medical Annex and upon promotion to HM2, transferred to Clinical Support BMC Naval Station as Leading Petty Officer. 

He reported to Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego for Surface IDC School in July 2000. Upon graduating, he reported to USS CONSTELLATION (CV64) and completed a nine month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon his return in September 2003, HM1 Field took orders to 3rd Marine Air Wing, Marine Air Control Group 38, MCAS Miramar, CA and deployed to Al Assad Iraq in November of 2003. After returning in July 2004, HM1 Field reported to the USS MILIUS (DDG69) and deployed in October 2004 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom conducting Maritime Interdiction Operations. In September 2005, HM1 Field was selected for Chief Petty Officer and accepted orders to Afloat Training Group Pacific in June of 2006 after attending Journeyman Instructor training. In 2009, HMC Field was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer and selected orders to the USS COMSTOCK (LSD45) as Medical Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer. Onboard COMSTOCK, HMCS Field deployed to the Western Pacific in support of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit. He was selected to assume the roles of Command CMEO, Senior Watchbill Coordinator and filled the roll of Acting Command Master Chief numerous times.

HMCS Field reported to Naval Medical Center San Diego in December 2012.  He was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader of Branch Health Clinic MCAS Miramar, Branch Health Clinic Kerney Mesa, Branch Health Clinic Santee, Branch Health Clinic Rancho Bernardo and Branch Health Clinic Naval Base San Diego.  He immediately increased the medical readiness of all MCAS’s tenant commands from 79% to 93% while implementing the first Marine Corps Medical Home Port model.  Promoted to Master Chief in May 2014, he was relocated to NMCSD to fill in as the Command Master Chief and Deputy Command Master Chief.  

His personal achievements’ and awards include: Graduate Naval War College Senior Enlisted Academy #170, Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Fleet Marine Force, Afloat Training Specialist, Master Training Specialist, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal(5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal(4), and numerous unit awards.
