Navy Senior Enlisted Leader
AOCM Bret M. Hand

Master Chief Hand was born and raised in Hampton Bays, NY. He enlisted in The United States Navy on July 11, 2000 and graduated Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in September. After successful completion of Aviation Ordnance (AO) “A” School he was stationed on board USS George Washington CVN-73 in Norfolk, VA. Assigned to Weapons Department G-2 Division he deployed three times to the Mediterranean and was advanced to Petty Officer Second Class.  In August 2004 he transferred to Naval Air Station Lakehurst New Jersey as a Physical Security Specialist and Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor (SAMI) for Military and DOD Police. In March 2006 he returned to sea duty as a Plank Owner of Riverine Squadron One in Little Creek, VA. Deploying four times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to al Anbar Providence and Basra Iraq as a Small Unit Riverine Craft (SURC) coxswain/ boat captain and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC). In September 2009 he was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. In October 2010 he would take orders to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic as a JTAC Instructor for the United States Marine Corps. In April 2012 Master Chief Hand was assigned to Naval Special Warfare Development Group and served as a JTAC-Instructor and Fire Support Chief. He was deployed multiple times and promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In September 2017 he graduated the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 208 – Green.  AOCM Hand checked into Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 24 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in June of 2020 and was designated as the Navy Senior Enlisted Leader in August. He was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer in September 2020.  

Master Chief Hand’s decoration include Bronze Star Medal, Joint Commendation with “C” and “R” (3rd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5th Award), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
