Captain Shane B. Vickers
Captain Shane B. Vickers enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1996, and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California.
In March 1997, Private First Class Vickers was assigned to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion where he served as the Battalion S-1 Chief. During this tour, he participated in Maritime Combined Operations Training (MARCOT-98) off the coasts of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, and numerous training evolutions aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.
In February 2001, Sergeant Vickers reported to Recruiting Station Raleigh, 4th Marine Corps District for duty as the S-1 Chief. In June 2004, Staff Sergeant Vickers attended recruiting school and was reassigned to Recruiting Station Raleigh as a canvassing recruiter for Recruiting Sub-Station Durham.
In 2005, he was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and attended North Carolina State University. Upon completion, Gunnery Sergeant Vickers was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2009.
Upon completion of The Basic School in April 2010, Second Lieutenant Vickers attended the Logistics Officers Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. In August 2010, he reported to Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan for duty as the Headquarters Company Executive Officer. In July 2011, First Lieutenant Vickers was reassigned as the Battalion Logistics Officer.
In January 2012, he was assigned to a Police Advisor Team as a Logistics Advisor in support of 3d Battalion, 8th Marines during Operation Enduring Freedom 12.2. Upon his return, he was assigned as the Headquarters Battalion Assistant Logistics Officer and later the Battalion Logistics Officer. During his tour with Headquarters Battalion, Captain Vickers participated in numerous on-island and off-island exercises to include Ulchi Freedom Guardian, Cobra Gold (Thailand), and MEFEx (Korea).
Captain Vickers transferred to Marine Aircraft Group-24 in June 2014, for duty as the Commanding Officer of Marine Wing Support Detachment-24 in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
Captain Vickers’ decorations include: Navy Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
