Sergeant Major Sael G. Garcia

Sergeant Major Garcia enlisted into the Marine Corps on 3 November 1997 and completed his Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.  Upon graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Training, Sergeant Major Garcia attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California and then onto Logistics/Embarkation Specialist School in Coronado, California.  After graduating and earning the Military Occupational Specialty of Logistics/Embarkation Specialist, Sergeant Major Garcia received orders to Headquarters and Service Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. 

 

In April of 2000 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton California where he served as the Battalion Embarkation Chief until December 2002. During this period Sergeant Major Garcia deployed with Battalion Landing Team 3/5 on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

 

In January 2003 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.  Upon completion of Drill Instructor School in March of 2003, Sergeant Major Garcia reported to Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Series Chief Drill Instructor.

After a successful tour as a Drill Instructor in April of 2006, Sergeant Major Garcia received orders to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Quantico, Virginia where he served as the Battalion Logistics Chief. During his tour he also provided support at Officer Candidate School, as a Sergeant Instructor until August 2007.

 

In September of 2007 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division where he served as the Regimental Logistics Chief until May 2009. During this period he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-9/08-1 with Regimental Combat Team 5 from January 2008 to February 2009.

 

In May of 2009 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to Officer Candidate School where he served as a Platoon Sergeant for Alpha Company.  Sergeant Major Garcia then reported to the University of Minnesota NROTC where he served as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor from August 2009 to August 2011.

 

In September of 2011 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to 1st Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group, where he served as the Reparable Management Company First Sergeant from September 2011 to September 2013.

 

In September of 2013 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment where he served as Company "L" First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant and Weapons Company First Sergeant until his promotion to Sergeant Major in 2017. During this period he deployed as the Company First Sergeant for the small boat raid company with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) aboard Okinawa Japan as part of 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.

 

In February of 2017 Sergeant Major Garcia reported to Recruiting Station Albuquerque, 8th Marine Corps District in Albuquerque New Mexico, where he served as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major until May 2019.

 

In May 2019, Sergeant Major Garcia was assigned as the Sergeant Major for 1st Radio Battalion, I MEF Information Group until April 2021.

 

In April of 2021, Sergeant Major Garcia was transferred to Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he currently serves as the Group Sergeant Major for Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.

 

Sergeant Major Garcia has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 4 gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 gold star, and the Good Conduct Medal.
