Marine Aircraft Group 36
Colonel Brett Allison

Col Allison graduated from the Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering in May 1998, received his Naval Aviator wings in October 2000, and subsequently selected to fly the CH-46E.                                                                                    

Col Allison’s operational assignments include: Future Operations Officer and Weapons and Tactics Instructor with HMM-264 at MCAS New River, NC, where he completed a 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit deployment in 2003 and an Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment in 2005; Director of Safety and Standardization and Operations Officer with HMM-268 at MCAS Camp Pendleton, CA, deploying with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2012; and Site Commander, Marine Aircraft Group 49 Detachment Delta, Norfolk, VA, supporting the transition of HMM-774 to VMM-774 in 2016.   

Col Allison’s staff assignments include: instructor pilot and Aviation Safety Officer, Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, Yuma, AZ; Commandant’s Staff Director, United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD; Joint Planner and aide de camp to the Commander, United States Central Command, Tampa, FL; and Assistant Chief of Staff G5/Plans, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. 

Col Allison assumed his current duties as Commanding Officer, Marine Aircraft Group 36, Okinawa, Japan, in May 2023. 

Col Allison’s military education includes graduating as a distinguished graduate with a Master of Military Studies from Marine Corps University (2010) and as a distinguished graduate with a Master of Science in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from National Defense University’s Joint Advanced Warfighting School (2018).     

Col Allison’s personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Air Medal with gold star and numeral 6, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, and the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
