Lieutenant Colonel Aron D. Sullivan

Lieutenant Colonel Aron D. Sullivan is a native of Texas. He is a 2007 graduate of Drake University with a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Finance. In October 2009, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in December 2009. Following his commissioning, he reported to The Basic School. Upon completion of The Basic School in 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, for flight training and was designated a Naval Aviator in August 2012.

Following flight school, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to Marine Aircraft Group 39 (MAG-39) at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, for initial training in the AH-1W “Super Cobra” with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 (HMLAT-303).

In May 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 (HMLA-367). From April through November 2015, he deployed with HMLA-367 to Okinawa, Japan, in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. In the summer of 2016, he was designated a Night Systems Instructor in the AH-1W and attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course in the spring of 2017. Later that year, he was selected as the first HMLA-367 pilot to fly the AH-1Z “Viper.” During his time at HMLA-367, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan served as the Pilot Training Officer and Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

In October 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to the MAG-29 Tactical Training Unit, where he served as the unit's Weapons and Tactics Instructor. During this assignment, he was responsible for the series conversion of HMLA-167 and HMLA-269 from the AH-1W to the AH-1Z.

In July 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1). While assigned to MAWTS-1, he served as the subject matter expert for Assault Support Escort Operations and Armored Threats.

In June 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 (HMLA-369) and assumed duties as the Executive Officer. While assigned to HMLA-369, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan, in support of Unit Deployment Program 24.1.
In June 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to MAG-39, where he served as the Headquarters Squadron Commanding Officer and Personnel Support Detachment Officer in Charge.

In August 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW) G-3 in Okinawa, Japan. During his time at 1st MAW, he served as the Assistant Future Operations Officer and Future Operations Officer.

In July 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan reported to Marine Aircraft Group 36 (MAG-36), where he assumed duties as the Executive Officer.

Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan has accumulated more than 2,500 mishap-free flight hours, including more than 1,500 hours in the AH-1Z and 700 hours in the AH-1W. His personal decorations include the Air Medal for individual action and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of fourth award).
