Andrew C. Bryant was born in Bigstone Gap, Virginia and raised in Lombard, Illinois. He enlisted into the Marine Corps on 7 September 1999 and underwent recruit training at L. Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.
In January 2000, Private First Class Bryant completed Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton, California. After graduation, he reported directly to Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, Monterey, California as a Korean Cryptologic Linguist student.
In September 2001 Corporal Bryant reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One for training as an Aviation Maintenance Data Analyst and a Naval Aviation Logistics Command Operation System Administrator.
From October 2001 to May 2004 Sergeant Bryant served as the Data Analyst and Systems Administrator for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron Two Nine and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron Two Six.
Sergeant Bryant served with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron One Six Two from May 2004 to October 2005. The squadron was attached to the 26th MEU from March 2005 to September 2005.
In February 2006, Staff Sergeant Bryant was a plank owner when he helped stand up the first deployable MV-22B Squadron, Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron Two Six Three.
Staff Sergeant Bryant served with Marine Heavy Helicopter Training Squadron Three Zero Two as the Maintenance Data Chief from March 2007 to May 2008.
Staff Sergeant Bryant went to recruiters in May 2008. After graduating, Staff Sergeant Bryant recruited out of Recruiting Sub-Station Tupelo, Mississippi, Recruiting Station Montgomery, Alabama.
From October 2009 to May 2011 Staff Sergeant Bryant served as the Maintenance Data Chief with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron One Six Seven.
Staff Sergeant Bryant deployed with Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron One Six Two to Bastion Airbase Afghanistan. He deployed from July 2011 to January 2012. He served with the squadron until November 2012.
Staff Sergeant Bryant served with Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Training Squadron Two Zero Four from November 2012 to September 2013.
Gunnery Sergeant Bryant deployed with Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron Two Six One to Afghanistan in January 2014. The squadron participated in Operation Enduring Freedom until August 2014 and immediately deployed from there to Ali Al Salem Airbase Kuwait to stand up the Special Marine Air Ground Task Force.
In March 2015 Gunnery Sergeant Bryant transferred to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron One, Camp Foster Okinawa, Japan. There he served as an Aviation Logistics Maintenance Assist Team Inspector for the Commanding General of First MAW.
In March 2018, First Sergeant Bryant checked into Marine Wing Support Squadron Four Seven One Detachment A. where he served as the Site First Sergeant.
From June 2021 to June 2022 First Sergeant Bryant served with Combat Logistics Regiment 37 where he was Service Company’s First Sergeant.
Sergeant Major Bryant is currently serving as the Sergeant Major of Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18.
His personal awards are the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5).
Sergeant Major Bryant is married to the former Rafia Haffar of Gulf Breeze, Florida. They have two daughters together, Saarah and Lulwa.
