Major Ashley I. Kesselring

In July of 2011, Major Kesselring reported to The Basic School and graduated in January of 2012. She then reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron – 31 (MALS-31), Stingers, at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina. In the spring of 2012, she attended the Aviation Maintenance Officers Course at NAS Milton, Florida.

From June 2012 through June 2013, she served in the Assistant Production Control Officer and Ground Support Equipment Officer in Charge billets as part of MALS-31. In June 2013, she reported to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron - 251 (VMFA-251), Thunderbolts, where she served as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer (AAMO), Material Control Officer (MCO) from June 2013 to July 2016 and Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO) from August 2015 until the squadron’s return from deployment in January 2016. Major Kesselring completed work ups and a nine month deployment with VMFA-251 aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt as part of Carrier Air Wing – 1 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from March 2015 through November 2015.

Upon return from deployment, Major Kesselring received orders to MALS-14, Dragons. She executed orders to MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina in August 2016 where she held duties as the Assistant Operations Officer, Aviation Logistics Information Management Systems Officer in Charge, and the Continuous Process Improvement Officer in Charge simultaneously within MALS-14.

In 2017, Captain Kesselring reported to Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command aboard Joint Expeditionary Base-Fort Story, Virginia Beach, Virginia. She began her tour as the Future Operations Action Officer where she helped train and prepare Marines for security cooperation missions in support of Marine Rotational Forces – Europe. Upon completion of the Security Cooperation Planners Course in 2018, she was assigned to the Regional Section – Europe as an Engagement Team Officer.

Major Kesselring received orders in August 2019 to Marine Training Support Group-23, NAS Pensacola, Florida, where she served as the Aviation Life Support Systems Officer in Charge for Aviation Maintenance Squadron -1 (AMS-1), Thunder Gators.  During this time she enrolled in and completed the Expeditionary Warfare School through the Distance Education Program. In June 2020, Major Kesselring assumed the duties as the Executive Officer of AMS-1.

Upon promotion to the rank of Major, she was transferred to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Headquarters (CNATT HQ) in July of 2021 where she served as the USMC Logistics Management Officer. As the USMC leadership in the Readiness and Logistics (N4) directorate, she managed Marines within the Intergrated Product Teams for F-35, KC-130, Avionics/CASS, GSE, H-1, AV-8B, and Air Launched Weapons.

Most recently, she was assigned to MALS-12, MCAS Iwakuni Japan, as the Assistant Operations Officer from 2023-2024 and currently serves as the MALS-12 Executive Officer.

Major Kesselring’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd award). Major Kesselring is married to Brian Kesselring, and they have three daughters, Ayla, Remi, and Alexi.
