Sergeant Major Daniel R. Kermeen

Sergeant Major Kermeen was born in Madison, Indiana, on August 12, 1986. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December
2006. Following his recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina, he attended the School of Infantry-East for Marine
Combat Training on Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon completion, Private First Class Kermeen embarked on the Motor
Transport Operators Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, earning the Military Occupational Specialty of Logistic
Vehicle System Operator.


In August 2007, Private First Class Kermeen joined Combat Logistics Battalion 24, 2d Marine Logistics Group, where he
was promoted to Lance Corporal. He deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participating in Operation
Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and was promoted to Corporal in October 2008. January 2010 marked another
deployment with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Nassau, contributing to earthquake disaster relief
during Operation Unified Response in Haiti. Following this deployment, Corporal Kermeen received orders to the School
of Infantry-East as a Combat Instructor.


In January 2011, now Sergeant Kermeen joined Marine Combat Training Battalion, India Company, assuming the role of
Squad Instructor where he was responsible for the training and education of entry level Marines. His performance led to
a meritorious promotion to Staff Sergeant in July 2013, while concurrently serving as Platoon Commander.
In April 2014, Staff Sergeant Kermeen transitioned to Headquarters Battery, 12th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division,
as the Motor Transport Operations Chief. He deployed to the Republic of Korea to support the Korean Marine Exchange
Program 14-7 before moving to Combat Assault Battalion, 3d Marine Division, as the Motor Transport Operations Chief in
September 2015.


Staff Sergeant Kermeen began his tour as a Faculty Advisor at the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy in Okinawa in
September 2016. He served as a Faculty Advisor, Chief Faculty Advisor, Force Fitness Instructor, and SNCOIC for Sergeants
School, directly responsible for educating hundreds of Marines. During this assignment he was selected and promoted to
Gunnery Sergeant in October 2017 and earned his Senior Faculty Advisor and Master Faculty Advisor certification before
receiving orders in 2020 to 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune.


Gunnery Sergeant Kermeen's journey continued upon his assignment to 2d Medical Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group,
in April 2020, where he served as the Motor Transport Operations Chief, assuming additional responsibilities as the
Company Gunnery Sergeant in January 2021. He was selected for promotion to the rank of First Sergeant in September
2021, receiving orders to report to Headquarters & Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations-East.


In October 2021, First Sergeant Kermeen assumed the duties of the Company First Sergeant for Brig Company. After a
short tour, he transitioned to Security and Emergency Services Company in January 2022, providing senior enlisted
support to the Provost Marshall Office for nearly two years. In July 2023, he received orders to return to 3d Marine
Division, Okinawa Japan.


Upon arrival to Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division in October 2023 First Sergeant Kermeen assumed the duties
of Company First Sergeant for Truck Company, he was soon after selected for promotion to Sergeant Major. In April 2024
he was promoted to his current rank and is set to assume the duties as Squadron Sergeant Major for Marine Air Support
Squadron 2 in May 2024.


Sergeant Major Kermeen's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps
Commendation Medal with (2) gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with (3) gold stars, and the Good
Conduct Medal with (4) bronze stars.


Beyond his military service, Sergeant Major Kermeen finds strength and support in his family. He is married to Tavon
Kermeen, and together they have two children, Dyllon and Kaileigh.
