Lieutenant Colonel Andrew D. Myers

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew D. Myers was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in May, 2004 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology. He commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps after completing Officer Candidate School in August, 2004. He completed The Basic School in March 2005, and was subsequently assigned to Naval Aviator training at NAS Pensacola, Florida in April 2005.

First Lieutenant Myers completed Naval Flight Training in December 2006 and was designated a Naval Aviator in NAS Corpus Christi, Texas and subsequently attended the Aviation Training Unit, Cherry Point, North Carolina for KC-130J Hercules training.

Upon completion in August, 2007 he reported to VMGR-152 “SUMOS” MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan for his first fleet assignment. In April 2009, Captain Myers was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 36 as the Fixed Wing Frag Officer and Ground Training Officer. In November 2009, Captain Myers returned to VMGR-152. During his tour, Captain Myers served as the Communication Officer, Future Operations Planner, Fixed Wing Frag Officer, Flight Duty Officer/Schedule writer, Detachment Assistant Operations Officer, and Flight Officer. He participated in Operation SEA ANGEL II and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Captain Myers obtained the designation Transport Plane Commander in 2010.

In August 2011, Captain Myers reported to 2d Battalion, 9th Marines, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division for duties as a Forward Air Controller. During this tour, he deployed to Marjah, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM from December 2011 through July 2012.

In August 2012, Captain Myers reported to VMGR-252 “OTIS”, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina where he served as the Flight Officer. In July 2014, Captain Myers deployed to Afghanistan is support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM with VMGR-252 Detachment Alpha, serving as the detachment Operations Officer and Harvest Hercules Airborne Weapons Kit (HAWK) Instructor. Upon return from deployment in February, 2014, Captain Myers attended the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-14. In September 2014, Captain Myers deployed with VMGR-252 to SPMAGTF-CR-AF and served as the detachment Executive Officer and Weapons and Tactics Instructor.

In July 2015, Major Myers reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1), MCAS Yuma, Arizona for duties as a KC-130J Instructor Pilot. While at MAWTS-1, Major Myers served as KC-130 Division Head and Harvest Hercules Airborne Weapons Kit subject matter expert. He also served as an Assistant NATOPS Instructor and Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor.

In July 2018, Major Myers reported to VMGR-352 “RAIDERS”, MCAS Miramar, California where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer. In December, 2018 he assumed the department head billet of the Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

In January 2020, Major Myers reported to Headquarters Marine Corps, Department of Aviation where he served as the Fixed-Wing Assault Support Capability Lead.

In April 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Myers reported to MAG-24 for Command of VMGR-153 “HERCULES”, MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Lieutenant Colonel Myers’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight Numeral Ten), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (third award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (second award).
