Sergeant Major Victor M. Martinez

Victor M. Martinez, a native of Willingboro, New Jersey, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in July 2003. Private First Class (PFC) Martinez completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC in September 2003. PFC Martinez reported to Marine Combat Training (East), at Camp Geiger, NC followed by Field Radio Operators Course 29 Palms, CA. He then was assigned 1st Marine Regiment Camp Pendleton, CA. PFC Martinez, deployed to Kuwait and Iraq. While on deployment PFC Martinez was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl). In November of 2004, LCpl Martinez received orders to 5th Bn 11th Marines where he served as a Radio Operator.

In July 2005, LCpl Martinez was promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl). In November of 2005 Cpl Martinez was issued orders to 5th Marine Regiment. While assigned to 5th Marine Regiment Cpl Martinez deployed to Iraq once again, from January 2006 to January 2007. During his deployment he was augmented to 1st Bn 1st Marines MITT team. While deployed Cpl Martinez was combat meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) and requested orders to recruiting duty.

In July 2007, Sgt Martinez reported to Recruiting School and was issued orders to Recruiting Station Dallas. During his time on recruiting duty he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt) and selected as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of recruiting sub-station Dallas North. Upon completion of his successful tour, he received orders to 3d Amphibian Assault Bn Camp Pendleton, CA (AABN) as a Communications Chief in October of 2010.

While at 3d AABN SSgt Martinez did one Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan. In August 2012, SSgt Martinez reported to Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) Quantico, VA and in August of 2015 was promoted to rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt). While at HMX-1, GySgt Martinez held a myriad of billets such as Operations Chief, interim Communications Chief, and Marine One Communicator. In July of 2018 GySgt Martinez received orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 3 (CLR-3) Okinawa, Japan serving as the Regimental Radio Chief.

During his time with CLR-3 he was promoted to rank of First Sergeant (1stSgt) and issued orders to report to 3d Transportation Battalion (3d TB). While assigned to 3d TB Support and Motor Transport Company, he received orders to Headquarters and Support Battalion (H&S Bn) Marine Corps Base Butler, to be the 1stSgt for Company B, where he was the Marine Corps recipient of the Jewish Institute of National Security and Affairs.

In August of 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major (SgtMaj) and reported to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni Japan, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121) as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

SgtMaj Martinez's personal awards include: (1) Meritorious Service Medal, (2) Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, (4) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals with combat valor device, and (1) Combat Action Ribbon. SgtMaj Martinez is married to Rachel Martinez and have two children, Zachary and Gabriel.
