Lieutenant Colonel Seamus Carey, a native of New York, commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in English Literature. After completion of The Basic School, he was designated an Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Carey served fleet tours with MALS-26, MALS-29, VMM-266, and MALS-12 in a variety of roles ranging from Division Officer to Executive Officer. Most recently, he served as the Executive Officer of MAG-12 in Iwakuni, Japan. In the supporting establishment, Lieutenant Colonel Carey served two separate tours in acquisitions with Marine Corps Systems Command and the F-35 Joint Program Office. Lieutenant Colonel Carey assumed command of MALS-24 at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in June of 2025.
Lieutenant Colonel Carey's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
