Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey T. Blumenfeld

LtCol Blumenfeld graduated and commissioned in May 2005 from the U.S. Naval Academy and reported to The Basic School in July. Upon completion in January 2006, he reported to Marine Air Training Support Group-21 in Pensacola, FL for flight training with VT-2 and HT-8 and promoted to First Lieutenant in 2007. He was designated a Naval Aviator in November 2007 with future assignment as a CH-46E pilot at MCAS Miramar, San Diego, CA.

In December 2007, 1st Lt Blumenfeld reported to Fleet Replacement Squadron HMM(T)-164 at Camp Pendleton, CA for initial training in the CH-46E. Upon completion in June 2008, he reported to HMM-166 at MCAS Miramar and filled the billet of Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) Officer and Ground Safety Officer (GSO) and promoted to Captain on 1 September 2009. Captain Blumenfeld served with HMM-166 during 11th MEU 09-02 deployment from August 2009 - April 2010 in the Western Pacific and Gulf of Aden aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard.

In May 2010, HMM-166 was re-designation to VMM-166. Capt Blumenfeld completed MV-22B Transition Training Unit (TTU) ground school at MCAS Miramar and reported to VMM(T)-204 in New River, NC, for FRS flight training. Completing in September 2010, Capt Blumenfeld returned to VMM-166 as the Flight Equipment and Ordnance Officer-in-Charge. He completed Distance-EWS and supported numerous DFTs, NAVAIR and HQMC milestones in getting VMM-166 to Full Operational Capability (FOC).

In September 2013, Capt Blumenfeld deployed with VMM-166 on the first MV-22B West Coast MEU supporting 13th MEU 13-02 to the Western Pacific aboard the USS Boxer from September 2013 - April 2014 as the Current Operations Officer.

Captain Blumenfeld reported to Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) in August 2014. In 2015, he was selected to be a White House Liaison Officer (WHLO) at HMX-1, executing advanced planning and integration with White House Military Office and US Secret Service entities for Presidential and heads of state movements. He participated in four international and 25 domestic Presidential Missions. He was promoted to Major in September 2015.

In August 2017, Major Blumenfeld reported to VMM-265 at MCAS Futenma in Okinawa, Japan as the Operations Officer from October 2017 - April 2019 deploying as the ACE Operations Officer on the 31st MEU 18.2 from March - April 2018 supporting Ssang Yong in Korea and several bi-lateral engagements with the country of Japan.  He was the detachment OIC for five MV-22Bs supporting HMX-1 for U.S. Presidential movement in Manilla in November 2017 and several bi-lateral engagements in mainland Japan. In April 2019, he checked-in to Marine Aircraft Group-36 HQ and served as the MAG-36 Operations Officer from April 2019 until July 2020.

In July 2020, Major Blumenfeld reported to MAG-24, Kaneohe Bay, HI to assume the role of Executive Officer for VMM-363 Lucky Red Lions and deployed as the Marine Rotational Force - Darwin ACE Executive Officer from March – September 2021. Major Blumenfeld promoted to LtCol on 1 October 2021. In March 2022, LtCol Blumenfeld checked-into MAG-24 HQ as the Executive Officer.

LtCol Blumenfeld's personal awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Presidential Service Badge.
