Sergeant Major Thomas W. Tabisz

Sergeant Major Tabisz was born on 31 August, 1979, where he graduated from Crete Monee High School in 1998.  On 14 March, 2000, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported to MCRD San Diego, CA with 3rd Recruit Training Battalion. Upon his graduation, he transferred to Marine Combat Training Battalion (West) and graduated in July, 2000.  He then attended Motor Transport Operator School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and graduated August of 2000.

 In September of 2000, Private Tabisz reported for duty to Camp Lejeune, NC with 2d Light Armor Reconnaissance Battalion where he was placed in Motor Transport Platoon.  In September 2002, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal and in December of 2002 he received orders to Okinawa, Japan and was assigned to 1st Marine Air Wing, MWSS 172, Motor Transport Platoon as the Wrecker Section NCOIC. 

 In December 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and received orders and reported for duty to Camp Lejeune, NC and was assigned to 2d Marine Division, 2d Amphibious Assault Battalion, Motor Transport Platoon. Sergeant Tabisz then deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2-2 from September 2004 to April 2005.

In September 2006, Sergeant Tabisz reported to MCRD Parris Island, SC for Drill Instructor School. Upon graduation in December, he was assigned to India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion where he held billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 1 January 2008. In October 2008, he then transferred to the Combat Training Tank as a Marine Combat Instructor Trainer of Water Survival where he served as a Swim Instructor for one year, also serving as an Instructor in the MCIWS Course.  In October 2009, Staff Sergeant Tabisz then was selected to transfer to Drill Instructor School, where he served as a Drill Instructor School Instructor until October 2010.

 In November 2010, Staff Sergeant Tabisz reported to Headquarters Battalion, Truck Company, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC as a Platoon Sergeant.  There, he was attached to 3rd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Marjha, Afghanistan from June 2011 to January 2012. 

In May 2012, Staff Sergeant Tabisz received orders to the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Camp Johnson, NC where he served as Master Faculty Advisor and SNCOIC of the Sergeants Course.  Staff Sergeant Tabisz was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant on April 2, 2013.

In October 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Tabisz reported to 3rd Transportation Support Battalion where he served as a Company Gunnery Sergeant. In January 2017, he was promoted to First Sergeant and reported to Head Quarters Regiment, Food Service Company where he served as the Company First Sergeant until November 2017.  October 2017 1stgt Tabisz was assigned to Communications Company until June 2019.   First Sergeant Tabisz then reported to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Bravo Company First Sergeant.  He was promoted to Sergeant Major November 2020 and current serves as the 7th Communication Battalion Sergeant Major.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars in lieu of fourth award, Navy achievement medal with combat distinguishing device and two stars in lieu of third award, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon with gold Star.
