Major Thomas W. Bertram

Major Bertram is currently serving as the Executive Officer, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18, Marine Air Control Group 18. Major Bertram is a native of Medina, Ohio and graduated from Kent State University with a BS in Construction Management. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in September 2008 and was commissioned in 2012. He has attended The Basic School, Basic Communications Officer Course, Summer and Winter Mountain Leaders Courses, Mountain Communications Course, MAGTF Communications Planners, Resident and Non-Resident Expeditionary Warfare School, Weapons and Tactics Instructor C3 Course, and Non-Resident USMC Command and Staff College.

His service in the Operating Forces includes: Platoon Commander and Assistant Communications Officer with HQ Co, 8th Marine Regiment; Assistant Communications Officer with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Africa Command Element; H&S Company and Alpha Company Commander with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38; Communications Officer with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit Command Element, and Operations Officer with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18.

Major Bertram commanded Headquarters and Service Company, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38 from June 2021 to April 2022. He commanded Alpha Company, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38 from April 2022 to May 2022 before transferring to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

His service outside the Operating Forces includes serving as the installation S6, Executive Officer for installation company, and the Mountain Communications Course Officer in Charge with the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, CA from 2017 to 2020; N65 Fleet Communications Planner with US THIRD Fleet.

Major Bertram’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of third award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
