Major Christopher Jasperson

Major Christopher Jasperson is a native of Big Bear Lake, CA. He graduated and commissioned from the U.S. Naval Academy in May 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in physics. 2ndLt Jasperson then completed The Basic School in December and reported to MATSG-21 onboard NAS Pensacola, FL for preflight indoctrination. He trained with VT-27, HT-18 and VT-35, promoted to First Lieutenant, and was designated a Naval Aviator in December 2013, with a future assignment of MV-22B pilot at MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan.

1stLt Jasperson spent the first half of 2014 with the Fleet Replacement Squadron VMM(T)-204 at MCAS New River, NC. Upon completion, he reported to VMM-265 at MCAS Futenma and served as the GSO, S-5 and COPSO. There, he deployed with the 31st MEU during the 15.2 and 16.1 Patrols on the USS BONHOMME RICHARD, where he promoted to Captain. He also supported exercises ranging from SsangYong in Korea to Balikatan in the Philippines and Talisman Saber in Australia; SECDEF support in Singapore; POTUS Support for the 2016 G7 Summit; and humanitarian support after the 2016 earthquake in Kumamoto, Japan.

Captain Jasperson reported to MAG-39 at MCAS Camp Pendleton in July 2017 where he completed TACP School with a follow-on assignment as the 5th Marine Regimental Assistant Air Officer. While at 5th Marines, Captain Jasperson deployed to Al Jaber, Kuwait as part of SPMAGTF-CR-CC 18.2, spending most of the deployment assigned to TF Southwest 18.1, Camp Shorab, Helmand, Afghanistan as the J32 Air Planner and JTAC.

In January 2019, Captain Jasperson reported to VMM-362 at MCAS Miramar to join the squadron stand-up and served as the Airframes OIC and Quality Assurance Officer. There, he deployed to Al Jaber, Kuwait and Djibouti as part of SPMAGTF-CR-CC 21.1 and flew over 100 combat hours across Iraq and Syria. Upon returning from deployment in May 2021, Captain Jasperson promoted to Major and served as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer until May 2022.

From May 2022 until February 2023, Major Jasperson served as the MAG-16 FOPSO and Digital Interoperability OIC.

Major Jasperson then reported to VMM-161, where he served as the Director of Safety and Standardization, and Aircraft Maintenance Officer. During that tour, he augmented 3d MAW Staff forward deployed to Townsville, Australia.

In the summer of 2024, Major Jasperson reported to VMM-363 and assumed the duties as the Executive Officer.

Major Jasperson’s personal awards include the Air Medal (w/ flight numeral 2), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (w/ three bronze stars), and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
