Lieutenant Colonel Iden, a native of Battle Creek, Michigan, began his Marine Corps career in 1997 as an enlisted Infantryman, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant before being commissioned in 2008. Early in his career, he was assigned to Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, where he participated in two Unit Deployments to Okinawa, Japan (1998 & 2000) and deployed to Nairobi, Kenya in support of Operation Resolute Response (1998). From 2002 to 2005, he served on Inspector-Instructor Duty with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and deployed to Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In 2005, he was accepted into the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP). Graduating from Texas A&M University in 2008 with a B.S. in Human Resource Development, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and designated an Aviation Supply Officer after completing The Basic School (TBS).
As a company grade officer, he was assigned to Marine Aircraft Logistics Squadron (MALS) 29, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 29, MCAS New River, NC. In 2011, he deployed to Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and was selected for Marine Officer Instructor (MOI) Duty. In 2012, he transferred to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL to serve as the Marine Officer Instructor and Operations Officer for the NROTC Program. In June 2015, he transferred to MALS-13, MAG-13, MCAS Yuma, AZ and served as the Assistant Operations Officer and later as the Assistant Aviation Supply Officer.
As a field grade officer, he served as the Director for Aviation Supply Officer School, Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Detachment, Naval Air Station Whiting Field, FL from 2017 to 2020. During this time, he was selected for the Air Command and Staff College and reported to Air University in Montgomery, AL in June 2020. In June 2021, he transferred to MALS-36, MAG-36, MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the Aviation Supply Officer. Upon promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, he transferred to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), Okinawa, Japan and served as the Deputy AC/S Aviation Logistics Department (ALD).
Lieutenant Colonel Iden holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University, is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (non-resident), and Air Command and Staff College (resident), earning a Master of Science in Military Studies from Air University.
Lieutenant Colonel Iden’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three Gold Stars, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four Gold Stars.
