Lieutenant Colonel Mark A. Stefanski

LtCol Stefanski was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2007 and upon graduation from the Basic School in May 2008, he attended flight training at NAS Pensacola, Florida, NAS Whiting Field, and Corpus Christi, Texas, and was designated a Naval Aviator in June 2010. He then reported to VMM(T)-204 at MCAS New River, North Carolina, for initial training in the MV-22B. Upon completion of his training in December 2010, he was designated a MV-22B Tiltrotor Second Pilot.

In January 2011, LtCol Stefanski reported to VMM-365, MCAS New River, North Carolina, for service in the Fleet Marine Forces. In January 2012, he deployed with VMM-365 to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 12.1. While assigned to VMM-365, LtCol Stefanski served in Operations.

Upon returning from deployment, LtCol Stefanski completed the Aviation Safety Officer Course at NAS Pensacola, Florida. In April 2013, LtCol Stefanski deployed with VMM-365 to Special Purpose MAGTF Crisis Response Africa (SP-MAGTF CR AF). During this time LtCol Stefanski served as the Aviation Safety Officer (ASO).

Upon returning from SP-MAGTF CR AF , LtCol Stefanski attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-14 and was designated a Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI). In December 2014 LtCol Stefanski deployed with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). During this time he served as the Tactics Officer and the Squadron WTI.

In August 2015, LtCol Stefanski reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 (MAWTS-1) in Yuma, Arizona. During this tour, LtCol Stefanski served as an MV-22B instructor and the MAWTS-1 ASO.

In June 2018, LtCol Stefanski reported to VMM-265, MCAS Futenma, Japan. LtCol Stefanski served as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer (AMO), Aviation Combat Element (ACE) AMO, and ACE Executive Officer (XO) deploying with the 31st MEU 19.2 and 20.1 patrols.  

In June 2020, LtCol Stefanski reported to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation to assume duties as the International Plans and Policies Officer. In April of 2021 LtCol Stefanski assumed the duties of the MV-22B Capabilities Officer at HQMC Aviation. In August of 2022 LtCol Stefanski was selected to command VMM-265.

In June 2023, LtCol Stefanski reported to Marine Aircraft Group 36 (MAG-36). During this tour LtCol Stefanski served as the Personnel Support Detachment Commanding Officer (PSD CO), the Operations Officer (OPSO) and the Executive Officer.  

LtCol Stefanski has accumulated more than 1800 flight hours and held numerous instructor qualifications. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Meal with Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, and the Air Medal with Strike/Flight Numeral 5.

LtCol Stefanski is married to his wife Justein and has one son Henry Owen.
