Major Nicholas Peters

Major Nicholas Peters attended Officer Candidate School in the summer of 2008 and graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in May, 2009. After graduating, received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in June, 2009.

Upon graduation from The Basic School in 2010, 2ndLt Peters checked into Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21 (MATSG-21) in Pensacola, Florida. In 2011, 1stLt Peters was assigned the MV-22B flight track and checked into MATSG-22 in Corpus Christi, Texas for advanced flight training. He was designated a naval aviator in December, 2012 and checked into Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204 (VMMT-204) aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River to complete flight training. Once complete, 1stLt Peters checked into Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (VMM-161).

In May 2015, Capt Peters deployed on the 15th MEU in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, and presidential operations in Kenya and the Philippines. In Kuwait, Capt Peters supported contingency operations ongoing against ISIS forces in Iraq and Syria.

In June 2017, Capt Peters deployed on the 15th MEU is support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In northern Iraq, Capt Peters supported casualty evacuation operations and additional personnel recovery contingencies in Kuwait.

In August 2018, Capt Peters moved to Okinawa and checked into VMM-265. During this tour he supported two years of Alert Contingency MAGTF operations and one year of 31st MEU operations. During this time he supported Talisman Saber, Cobra Gold, and multiple Forest Lights and Keen Swords. He was promoted to Major and became the Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

After completing his tour in Okinawa at VMM-265, Major Peters checked into MAWTS-1 in July 2021. Major Peters held the positions of the MV-22 Division Head and the Assault Support Department Head during his time a MAWTS-1.

In July of 2024 Major Peters returned to Okinawa and checked into VMM-265 as the Executive Officer.

Major Peters’ personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal and two Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medals. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Technology from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
