LtCol Cappabianca assumed the role of Executive Officer, Marine Aircraft Group 12 in September 2025. A native of New York City, New York, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned in 2008. Following The Basic School, he completed flight training and was designated an F/A-18 Pilot.
LtCol Cappabianca has served in the operating forces as a Hornet pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadrons 112, 232, and 242. With these units he held positions in the operations, maintenance, and safety departments at both the Division Officer and Department Head levels. His operational deployments have been in support of INDOPACOM objectives within the III MEF area of responsibility. In the supporting establishment, LtCol Cappabianca has served as a developmental test pilot and APG-79 radar product developer with Air Test and Evaluation Squadron THREE ONE and as a F-35 fleet replacement squadron instructor pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 502. Former staff assignments were executed at Marine Aircraft Group 11 as the F/A-18A-D T/M/S Deputy Director and Naval Aviation Enterprise Action Officer.
LtCol Cappabianca is a graduate of the Marine Division Tactics Course and the United States Naval Test Pilot School (with distinction). His formal military education was conducted via the Marine Corps University and Air Command and Staff College. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering. LtCol Cappabianca has flown over 1,800 pilot hours in over 20 different military and civilian aircraft, predominantly in the F/A-18A-F Hornet and Super Hornet and F-35B Lightning II. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2).
