Major Nicolas Towers was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and commissioned as a
Second Lieutenant from the United States Naval Academy in May 2015. After attending The Basic School, he reported to Pensacola for
flight training, and received his Wings of Gold in January 2018 and reported to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Training Squadron 204
(VMMT-204) for initial training in the MV-22B Osprey.
In October 2018, Major Towers reported to Marine Air Group 39, where he joined Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164
(VMM-164) Knightriders. During his time at VMM-164, he served as a daily schedule writer, NATOPS officer, and as OIC of the
Ordnance, Flight Equipment, and Flightline divisions. As the NATOPS officer, Major Towers deployed with the 15th Marine
Expeditionary Unit, conducting contingency operations supporting Operation OCTAVE QUARTZ. In June 2022, he graduated from
the Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program. Flight qualifications earned at VMM-164 include Section Leader, Basic
Instructor Pilot, and Functional Check Pilot.
In October 2022, Major Towers reported to Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER), where he served as the
Senior Watch Officer for the Integrated Operations Center, which monitored operations across MARFORCYBER, MARFORSPACE,
Marine Corps Information Command, Joint Task Force ARES (JTF-ARES), and Joint Force Headquarters Cyber (Marines). After
serving in the watch center, he served as a future cyber operations planner for JTF-ARES, an offensive cyber operations unit. He
furthered his education by attending the Cyberspace Operations Planners Course and started a Master of Science in Mathematics from
Texas A&M University.
In March 2025, Major Towers reported to VMMT-204 for MV-22B refresher training and completed his Master’s degree. After
completion, he reported to VMM-262 and served as the operations officer, where he planned a short notice deployment to the
Philippines in support of foreign disaster assistance. He currently serves as the Executive Officer for VMM-262.
Major Towers’ personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
