Marine Wing Support Detachment (MWSD) 24, re-designated on October 15, 2021. For historical purposes, the re-designation of MWSD-24 will reactivate MWSS-174, which will restore the complete lineage and honors of the previous MWSS-174.

The 1st Marine Aircraft Wing ran 242 miles to celebrate the U.S. Marine Corps 242nd birthday on November 10. Squadrons throughout 1st MAW, including those at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan and MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, collectively ran a total of 242 miles in recognition of the Marine Corps 242 birthday. Fighting and winning our nation’s battles since July 7, 1941, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, the Aviation Combat Element of III Marine Expeditionary Force, provides combat ready, task organized forces capable of conducting aviation operations across all six functions of Marine Aviation in naval and expeditionary environments, and commands and controls aviation forces through the Tactical Air Command Center in order to contribute to the accomplishment of our nation's security objectives as required by standing operational plans in the Pacific Command's area of responsibility, engagement operations in support of Marine Forces Pacific, overseas contingency operations, and other operations as directed.
