U.S. military members gather in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands for exercise Valiant Shield 2018. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S. only exercise with a focus of integration of joint training among U.S. forces. This training enables real world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land and in cyberspace. U.S. and Philippine military aircraft community personnel participated in a variety of subject matter exchange events at Clark Air Base, Calumpang, Mabalacat City, Philippines, during Exercise Balikatan 2018, held from May 7 to 18. The training was held to further interoperability between the U.S. and the Philippines, particularly among the various aircraft community members. Exercise Balikatan, in its 34th iteration, is an annual U.S.-Philippine military training exercise focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, counterterrorism and other combined military operations.(U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt.
