For 248 years, Marines around the world have celebrated their illustrious history. For over 100 years, Marine aviation has provided unique capabilities to the Marine Corps to accomplish its missions. And for over 82 years, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron (MWHS) 1 has provided support to aviation units across the Marine Corps. This birthday video is a commemoration of the service of MWHS-1 Marines, past and present.

The 1st Marine Aircraft Wing ran 242 miles to celebrate the U.S. Marine Corps 242nd birthday on November 10. Squadrons throughout 1st MAW, including those at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan and MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, collectively ran a total of 242 miles in recognition of the Marine Corps 242 birthday. Fighting and winning our nation’s battles since July 7, 1941, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, the Aviation Combat Element of III Marine Expeditionary Force, provides combat ready, task organized forces capable of conducting aviation operations across all six functions of Marine Aviation in naval and expeditionary environments, and commands and controls aviation forces through the Tactical Air Command Center in order to contribute to the accomplishment of our nation's security objectives as required by standing operational plans in the Pacific Command's area of responsibility, engagement operations in support of Marine Forces Pacific, overseas contingency operations, and other operations as directed.
