Crew rescued after MV-22 incident off coast of Okinawa

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER, Okinawa, Japan – All five crewmembers aboard an MV-22 Osprey with Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing were successfully rescued when their aircraft conducted a landing in shallow water off the Okinawa coastline of Camp Schwab at approximately 10:00 p.m., yesterday.

Marine Aircraft Group 36 Reaffirms Commitment to Infantry Marines

The Marine Corps is known for its fighting spirit and dedication to its Marines across all military occupational specialties. This dedication centers especially around the infantry, understanding that it is the Corps' main effort with other units as supporting elements. Marines with Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, continually show this by the devotion they give to infantry units each and every day.

The Care Taker: CREW CHIEF

U.S. Marines of all ages with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, operate and maintain MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft every day. The Marines, currently in the Philippines, have been working day and night in support of Air Assault Support Exercise 16.2

Ready Group lands Down Under

Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122, Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12, Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 and other elements of Marine Aircraft Group 12 from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, traveled to Royal Australian Air Force Base Tindal, Australia, July 22, 2016, to participate in Exercise Pitch Black 2016.

RIMPAC 16: Scarface squadron CO says Hawaiian range provides training like no other

In a training area where the base elevation is more than 6,000 feet above sea level, the pilots of Marine Light Attack Squadron 367 begin each day of training in less than ideal circumstances. The Engines of UH-1Y Huey and AH-1Z Cobra helicopters rev into overdrive as their rotors spin furiously in the thin air, helping the aircraft maintain a slow, steady descent to safely land Marines. Clouds obscure the mountains, forcing squadron leadership to carefully assess the risk of colliding with phantom ridges hidden in the heights. In this challenging environment, the Marines of HMLA-367 Scarface strive to close the gap between training and combat operations while reducing risk during exercise Rim of the Pacific 2016.

MWSS-171 arrives in Fuji, unleashes Eagle Wrath 2016

A True Blue Marine

"The strong Marines will stay the course and the weak will be weeded out," said Sgt. Ryan Hetu, Marine Corps Aviation Association Air Crewmen of the Year. Sgt. Ryan Hetu, a crew chief instructor with Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron, earned the award for “initiative, perseverance, and total dedication to duty,” according to his award citation.

Marines Dive off Hawaii's Coast

There are many activities for service members to take advantage of while stationed in Hawaii. Members of various military units from Marine Aircraft Group 24, a Marine Corps aviation unit based at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, spend their free time diving off Hawaii’s coast with MAG 24 Dive Group.

Hawaii to Receive First MV-22 Osprey Squadron

MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft will appear in the skies around Hawaii at the end of June as Marine Aircraft Group 24 receives the first MV-22 squadron to be permanently stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay.
