Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel D. Sanchez
LtCol Sanchez was born on 22 January 1980 in Salinas, California. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 1998, where he served as a disbursing technician with 3d Force Service Support Group, Marine Security Guard at U.S. embassies in Moscow, Russia and Bangkok, Thailand, and Weather Forecaster with Marine Wing Support Squadrons 171 and 271. He reached the rank of staff sergeant prior to being accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program in Dec 2006.

After completing Officer Candidate School, The Basic School, and Logistics Operations School, 2ndLt Sanchez reported to 9th Engineer Support Battalion in February 2008, where he served as a Motor Transport Platoon Commander and Battalion S-4 Officer. He completed two combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

In January 2011, 1stLt Sanchez executed orders to 3d Marine Division, where he assumed duties as the Truck Company Commander. In February 2013, Capt Sanchez was reassigned as the Division Headquarters S-4 Officer. In September 2013, he volunteered to serve as a Joint Individual Augmentee to the Logistics Directorate, J4, U.S. Forces Afghanistan. During his eight-month combat deployment, Capt Sanchez coordinated operational level sustainment in support of 17 coalition partners. Upon returning from Afghanistan, he executed orders to the USMC Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington, DC.

In September 2014, Capt Sanchez began training as a Defense Fellow to the 112th U.S. Congress. He served as a military liaison assistant to Congressman John Kline from Minnesota’s 2nd District. His portfolio included science and technology, foreign affairs, national security, and defense as well as advocating for USMC equities during the drafting process of the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act.

Upon completion of the congressional fellowship, Capt Sanchez reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 3 in February 2015, where he served as the S-4 and S-3 Officer. He planned and executed several theater security cooperation engagements throughout the Indo-Pacific Theater ranging from enabling the RSO&I of Marine Forces to conducting maritime prepositioning force operations.

In July 2019, Maj Sanchez reported to USMC Command and Staff College, where he earned a Master of Military Studies degree. In June 2020, he executed orders to The Basic School for duties as the Logistics Director. In December 2021, Maj Sanchez was selected for promotion and reassigned to Training Command. As the A/CS G-4, Maj Sanchez oversaw logistics support the implementation of Training and Education Command 2030 in support of 17 USMC entry level schools.

In June 2022, LtCol Sanchez reported to United States Forces Korea for duties as the Plans and Exercise Branch Chief for the J-4 Logistics Directorate. He planned and participated in multiple JCS Tier 1 command post exercises. Following completion of his joint tour in 2024, LtCol Sanchez reported to U.S. Marine Corps Forces Korea to serve as the A/CS G-4. In June 2025, LtCol Sanchez reported into his current command.

LtCol Sanchez is a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfighting School, Command and Staff College, Naval Command and Staff College, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, and Air War College.

His personnel decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Joint Service Commendation Medal (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (third award), Joint Service Achievement Medal (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
