Gunnery Sergeant William Pena Jr.
In June of 2001, Gunnery Sergeant Peña attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. After graduating Recruit Training in August 2001, Private First Class Peña attended Marine Combat Training at School of Infantry aboard Camp Pendleton, California. After completion of MCT Training, he attended his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) at Fort Leonard wood Missouri where he obtained the title of Motor Transport Operator.
In December of 2002, PFC Peña received orders to 3rd FSSG Combat Service Support Group 3, Marine Corps Base Hawaii where he severed as a motor transport operator, where he held key billets as the Training NCO and Safety NCO. PFC Peña was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in February of 2002. In January of 2004 LCpl Peña took part in a Maritime Positioning Force off load in South Korea. In October of 2004 he was selected to the rank of Corporal.
In November of 2004, Cpl Peña executed orders to Base Motors Marine Corps Base Quantico. While there Cpl Peña was assigned and served as Chief Dispatcher and Quality control NCOIC. In October 2005 Cpl Peña was selected to the rank of Sergeant.
In November of 2007 Sgt Peña received orders to 1st Marine Division Truck Company where he served as Platoon Sergeant for Headquarters Platoon, Dispatch Chief and Quality Control NCOIC. In August 2008 he was assigned to Advisor Training Group for his deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as an advisor for Police Training Team 1. In May 2010 he deployed again as a Boarder Mentor Team 1 advisor in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In October 2010 Sgt Peña was selected to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In March 2011 SSgt Peña received orders to Recruiting Station Dallas 8th Marine Corps District. While there he served as a canvassing recruiter and then was appointed as the SNCOIC of Recruiting Sub-Station Dallas North.
In April 2015, SSgt Peña received orders to Combat Logistic Battalion 3 Transportation Services Company, where he served as Truck Master. He then appointed as Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters & Service Company. In August 2016 SSgt Peña was selected to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and in February 2017 was placed as the Platoon Sergeant for 2nd Platoon and deployed to South Korea in support of Korean Marine Exchange Program 17-13, 17-14, 18-1.4, and 18-1.6.
In March 2018 Gunnery Sergeant Peña received orders to Marine Wing Support Detachment 24 where he serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.
His personal awards are the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 Gold Stars in lieu of4th award), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (4 Stars in lieu of 5th award).
