Major Nathan S. Frame
Major Nathan Seth Frame graduated from Kansas State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Technology Management. Upon graduating, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in February 2007 and subsequently reported to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia. At the completion of The Basic School in October 2007, he reported to the Naval Aviation Training Command in Pensacola, FL, and achieved designation as a Naval Aviator in November 2009.
After receiving his wings, First Lieutenant Frame reported to VMM(T)-204 at MCAS New River for initial training in the MV-22B Osprey. Upon completion in August 2010, First Lieutenant Frame reported to VMM-162 and assumed the duties as the squadron Communications Officer. He was promoted to Captain in April 2011 and soon deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from June 2011 to December 2011. Upon returning home from deployment, Captain Frame was assigned to be the Current Operations Officer for MAG-26 from February to August 2012. Once back at VMM-162, Captain Frame was assigned as the Squadron Logistics Officer and deployed to Moron, Spain as part of SPMAGTF-CR 14.2 in 2014.
After returning home from Spain in August 2014, Captain Frame was selected to assist in the transition of HMM-364 from the CH-46E Sea Knight, to the MV-22B, at MCAS Camp Pendleton,CA. Captain Frame executed his duties as the Quality Assurance Officer in the newly re-designated VMM-364 Purple Foxes, until completing Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course in April 2016. Following WTI, Captain Frame assumed duties as the Pilot Training Officer and prepared the squadron for its first deployment as a VMM and its first combat deployment in 7 years. Captain Frame deployed with the Purple Foxes to Al Jaber, Kuwait with SPMAGTF-CR-CC 17.2 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While deployed, Captain Frame was promoted to Major in May 2017.
Following his return from Kuwait, Major Frame attended Tactical Air Control Party School at Expeditionary Warefare Training Group-Pacific in March 2018 and was designated as Forward Air Controller. Upon graduation, he checked-in to Headquarters,1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton and assumed the duties as the deputy Air Officer. Major Frame again attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (Air Officer Course) in October 2018, earning the designation as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller-Evaluator.
As the Division’s primary Aviation planner, Major Frame was extensively involved in the planning and execution of Wing exercise Summer Fury 18, Winter Fury 19, Winter Fury 20 and the Division’s primary Air Planner for Steel Knight 19, Pacific Blitz 19, Steel Knight 20 and MEFEX 20. Additionally, as the Division’s TACP manager, Major Frame managed the manning and training of all Forward Air Contollers within the Division and I MEF in support of Global Force Management tasking.
At the completion of his Division Staff tour, Major Frame executed orders to VMM-268 in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. After completing the MV-22B refresh syllabus, Maj Frame was assigned as the squadron Operations Officer.
Major Frame’s personal awards include the Air Medal with Strike/Flight Numeral “4,” the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
