SgtMaj Michael B. Dutchin

 

 

Michael B. Dutchin, enlisted into the Marine Corps and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina in May of 1996. Upon graduation he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. Private First Class Dutchin attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina and then Motor Transport School at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri. In October 1996 he reported for duty at Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Virginia.
 
In November 1997 he reported to 12th Marines Regiment, Okinawa Japan. During his tour with 12th Marines Regiment Corporal Dutchin participated in exercises at Hijudai and Fuji. Following his assignment at 12th Marines Regiment he reported for duty to 8th Engineers Support Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group. Sergeant Dutchin participated in an exercise with the Texas Border Patrol, Joint Task Force Six. He reported for duty to 2nd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 2nd Marine Division October 2000.
 
In January 2002, Sergeant Dutchin received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island.  He was assign to Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion for duty.  Sergeant Dutchin served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and the Company Operations Chief. Sergeant Dutchin was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in July of 2003.  
June 2005 Staff Sergeant Dutchin reported for duty to Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion 10th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In November 2005 Battery “B” deployed on a unit deployment program to Okinawa Japan. In July 2007 Battery “B” deployed with BLT 3/8 22nd MEU (SOC) in support of Iraqi Freedom. Staff Sergeant Dutchin was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in December of 2007. Gunnery Sergeant Dutchin deployed with Tango Battery, in support of Iraqi Freedom 02-08 where he serves as the Battery Motor Transport Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant/Battery Gunnery Sergeant. 

Gunnery Sergeant Dutchin reported for duty to Instructor Battalion, The Basic School, Quantico Virginia, October 2009. Gunnery Sergeant Dutchin was assigned as the Operations Chief for Motor Transport Operation Platoon, Combat service Company. Gunnery Sergeant Dutchin also served as a sergeant instructor and platoon sergeant for company G, Officer Candidate Course. Gunnery Sergeant Dutchin was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in March 2011, and assumed the duties as the Company First Sergeant for Echo Company, Officer Candidate School until August 2011. 
First Sergeant Dutchin reported for duty to Alpha Company, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion in October 2011.  While at 3d Reconnaissance Battalion he deployed in support of numerous exercises within the Indo-Asia area to include RIMPAC. In March 2014 he was transferred to Detachment Alpha, Marine Wing Communication Squadron 18. First Sergeant Dutchin also served as the Sergeant Major for Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18. In January 2016, he assumed the duties as the First Sergeant for Bravo Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, until his selection to Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Dutchin reported for duty as the Sergeant Major of Headquarters Battalion, Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command/Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Ca in February 2018. In October 2019, he was assign as the Sergeant Major for Marine Wing Support Squadron 374(-). In July 2021, he assumed his current position as the Sergeant Major for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron-12.
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (3rd award), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Drill Instructor Ribbon.
