Sergeant Major Horsley enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1997 where he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class upon graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. After graduation he attended Marine Combat Training and Motor Transportation School at FT Leonardwood MO, his first duty assignment was 2d Marine Division, Headquarters Battalion Truck Company, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as a Motor Transport Operator. While at Truck Company, he was meritoriously promoted again to the rank of Lance Corporal and Corporal.

In November 1999 Sergeant Major Horsley received orders to 5th Battalion 10th Marines Romeo Battery, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as Motor Transport Operator and Platoon Sergeant. During this assignment, Sergeant Major Horsley completed Combined Arms Exercises and a Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa Japan where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning from deployment, Sergeant Major Horsley reenlisted and received orders in February 2002 to Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall, Arlington Virginia as a Vehicle Operator and Platoon Sergeant. His duties included driving for dignitaries, Marine Corps Sunset Parades and providing logistical support to the Pentagon, Naval Annex, Marine Barracks 8th & I and Sergeant Major and General Officers Symposiums.

In July 2005, Sergeant Major Horsley volunteered for Drill Instructor duty and was assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Alpha Company. There he was promoted to rank of Staff Sergeant. During his tour he completed 5 Green Belt Drill Instructor cycles, 2 Senior Drill Instructor cycles and 2 Series Chief Drill Instructor cycles. After completing his special duty assignment in November 2009 Sergeant Major Horsley was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California as the Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant. There he did two combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 09, OEF 1-0, OP Moshtarak, OEF 1-1 and OEF 121. In September 2010 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In August 2012, Sergeant Major Horsley received orders and was assigned to Marine Wing Service Support 171 aboard Marine Air Station Iwakuni Japan where he would serve as a Company Gunnery Sergeant for a few short months before he was selected to serve as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters Company Marine Air Group 12.

In January 2014, he received orders and reported to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, MCRD, San Diego, CA where he served as the Logistics Chief and was Frocked to the rank of First Sergeant in January 2015. Upon being Frocked Sergeant Major Horsley moved to Field Company where he served as the Company First Sergeant. In May 2015 Sergeant Major Horsley received orders to Site Support Albany, Ga where he served as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant.

Upon arriving at Marine Logistics Base Albany Sergeant Major Horsley duties included mentoring Reserve Leadership, serving on funeral details, Casualty Assistance Call Officer, Physical Security Manager, Family Readiness Officer, and management of the units Toys for Tots program. In 2018 Sergeant Major Horsley had a successful tour of duty as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant. In June 2018 Sergeant Major Horsley was assigned to 2nd Marine Division, Headquarters Battalion Camp Lejeune where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Truck Company and was later selected to the rank of Sergeant Major. In June 2020 Sergeant Major Horsley requested a tour of duty overseas and received orders to serve as the Marine Wing Support Squadron Sergeant Major were he still currently serves.

Sergeant Major Horsley completed the Sergeants Resident Program in 2003, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Residents Course in 2008, Motor Transport Advance Course in 2009, Senior Enlisted Joint PME Non-resident in 2010, Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Advanced Course in 2013, Senior Enlisted Legal Course in 2013, First Sergeant Course in 2015, the E8 Seminar in 2016, Air Force Senior Enlisted PME resident course in Aug 2016, DEOMI Senior Leader Development Training April 2019 and the Marine Corps Senior Enlisted PME Resident Course September 2019 .

Sergeant Major Horsley's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 Gold Star and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Sergeant Major Horsley is married to Rikya Horsley and they have five children, Xzayvier, Alaysia, Landyn, Khourey & Cali.
