Sergeant Major Arthur M. Arebalo Jr.

A native of California, Sergeant Major Arebalo enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 1995 and attended recruit training at MCRD, San Diego. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended the School of Infantry and was assigned the MOS of 0331 Machine gunner. Following the School of Infantry, he reported to the Marine Corps Security Force Training Battalion in Chesapeake, VA for training as an 8152 Basic Security Guard. Upon completion of his training in October 1995, he reported to the Marine Corps Security Force Company in Bangor, WA.

In December 1997, he received orders to 2d Battalion, 7th Marines. During his tour, he held several billets including Machine gun Section Leader, Mortar Section Leader, Weapons Platoon Sergeant and Third Platoon Commander.  Ultimately, completing two Unit Deployment Program rotations to Okinawa, Japan.

In April 2002, Staff Sergeant Arebalo received orders to MCRD, San Diego for Drill Instructor Duty. Assigned to Mike Company, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, he completed 10 training cycles as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor.

 In July 2005, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division. While assigned to 1/4, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on three different occasions while serving as, Scout Sniper Platoon Sergeant, Weapons Company Operations Chief, and Alpha Company Gunnery Sergeant.

In 2009 Gunnery Sergeant Arebalo was selected to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, 3d Marine Division. In June of that year, he was assigned to the Force Reconnaissance Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force to serve as the Force Company First Sergeant. In January 2011, First Sergeant Arebalo was re-assigned to the Headquarters and Service Company, 3d Reconnaissance Battalion and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In June 2012, First Sergeant Arebalo received orders to General Support Motor Transport Company (-), 6th Motor Transportation Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group to serve as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant. In August 2013, the unit was re-designated as Transportation Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 25.

First Sergeant Arebalo was selected for Sergeant Major in November 2013 and was subsequently issued orders to report to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. In April 2014, Sergeant Major Arebalo reported for duty as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

In January 2016, Sergeant Major Arebalo assumed the post of Squadron Sergeant Major for Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262. While assigned to VMM-262, he served as the Aviation Combat Element Sergeant Major for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from April 2016 to May 2017.

In March 2018, Sergeant Major Arebalo was assigned as the Sergeant Major of 2d Marine Regiment. In October 2018, Sergeant Major Arebalo deployed as the Task Force Southwest Sergeant Major in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel executing NATO's Resolute Support Mission.

In May 2020, Sergeant Major Arebalo assumed post as the 4th Marine Division Sergeant Major, after his successful tour at 4th Marine Division, Sergeant Major Arebalo returned to Okinawa, Japan.

Sergeant Major Arebalo assumed his post on 1 July 2022 as the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Arebalo's personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star.
